The Jiangsu Province Peking Opera performing arts group is a southern arts group, founded by the Southern Jiangsu Peking Opera Troupe and Northern Jiangsu experimental Peking Opera group. In 1953 it was renamed Jiangsu Peking Opera Troupe. It combined the Nanjing Peking Opera Troupe, Nanjing Peking Opera and Yangzhou area Peking Opera staff into Jiangsu Province Peking Opera Institute in 1960. It operated for more than 50 years and was named "National Key Peking Opera Troupe" by the Ministry of Culture in 2005. Participants included followers of multiple traditions, such as Cheng School Tan School, Wang Qinsheng, Lin School and Zhao Yunhe. As of 2011 its staff number more than 120. ==Works== The theater supported the development of many plays that interpret the traditional classical works. Major works include ''The Young Lady Died For Love'', ''Give Bread On Hongqiao'', ''Rickshaw Boy'', ''Wang Xifeng Stife And Strike In Ningguo Mansion'' and ''Tale of the Green Snake''.
